Predominant electrolytes in intracellular fluid are K+, Mg+2,
Ca+2, H+, PO4-3, SO4-2, HCO3-.
Predominant extracellular electrolytes are Na+, Cl- H+.  Ca+2
and HCO3- also important extracellularly in certain locations.
Regulation of pH:
H+ are acid ions and lower pH
HCO3- help to neutralize acid and maintain pH.
Bicarbonate buffer maintains pH in the blood and
elsewhere.
