Atherosclerosis
Saturated fats: form LDL (low density
lipoproteins) and VLDL (very…) which form
fatty cholesterol-containing plaque in arteries.
Unsaturated fats: for HDL (high density lipo-
proteins) and VHDL which are metabolized by
liver and don’t accumulate.
Most saturated fats are animal fats and most
plant fats are unsaturated. Exceptions: palm oil
and coconut oil.
